Musiio and radio automation

January 01, 2020 - March 31, 2020

Automating the music library workflow .

Musiio uses Artificial Intelligence to help automate music library workflows. This allows media to be even more creative when it comes to playlists and helps better serve the listener. By applying AI to the audio file itself, information about the genre, mood, energy, instruments, emotions and much more becomes available.

At VRT, Musiio offered a solution to enrich the music database with “objective” data, use genre-analysis to analyse the music of different channels and explore what the added value of the app could be for VRT's audiences. Lastly, Musiio's technology could help identify whether tagging could be useful to detect “doubles” in the music database (e.g. same song but with a different title or master).

During the VRT Sandbox project, a manually selected list of almost 17.000 tracks, with different genres, that were played on VRT's radio stations were forwarded for tagging. Besides this, instrumental music and a limited selection of archive recordings were also shared for tagging. The results, also delivered as an Excel file with tags and respective scores, could easily be linked to the data in the Zappa music library.
