CounterScam aims to make youngsters in Flanders and Brussels (18-34 years) and digital content creators (more) aware about the impact and dynamics of disinformation on social media. In addition, the innovation project engages them to foster a fact-based debate on these platforms. Supported by related communities that are concerned about disinformation, fact-checkers and digital content creators will exchange learnings and collaborate in three use cases to develop innovative social storytelling for fact-checks. These can be used by both communities to reach young adults effectively on social media platforms.

VRT will execute the user and impact research, providing the necessary insights to develop an effective collaboration model and generate social storytelling for fact-checks that are impactful and meaningful to young adults.

The public results can be discovered in more detail here (in Dutch).

This project has received funding from the Flemish government, as part of the digital transformation programme for the Flemish media sector.
