Six VRT programmes nominated for the prestigious Prix Europa
Six VRT programmes are in the running for a Prix Europa this year. The nominations showcase the wide range of compelling stories that VRT brings to the screen: from documentaries and investigative journalism to music, inclusion and innovative digital formats.
These are the six nominated productions:
Balder Primary School – Video Documentary
The documentary offers a remarkably realistic and often moving insight into daily life at a primary school in Brussels. Balder Primary School had previously won the Impact Prize at De Kastaars!.
First Aid for Classical Music – Audio Music
In this Klara podcast, Clara and Sander make classical music accessible to everyone. They take turns choosing a piece of music that they believe you should have heard at least once.
Gij weet – IRIS
Soukaïna Bennani and Hakim Chatar each welcome a guest to delve into what’s trending and catching the eye on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.
In form – Digital Media
Stien Edlund, Bavo Mortier and Ilias El Kostit take young people on a journey in their quest for a healthier body. They always base their approach on the latest scientific insights.
On the patient’s back – Video Investigation
More than two million Belgians suffer from chronic back pain. Pano investigates whether they always receive the right care and exposes how some treatments are unnecessary or even harmful, and how certain surgeons are too quick to operate.
Women of IS – Audio Investigation
In this VRT NWS podcast, four women share their personal stories for the first time. More than ten years ago, they travelled to Syria and Iraq to join IS.
