The son of Artan
‘The son of Artan’ is a mediaeval chivalric tale about a young squire’s quest to defeat the dragon who killed his father and is now terrorising the region.
Wolf wants to take revenge on the dragon Bogdor, who killed his father Artan. He makes a pact with his friends Friso, the crippled son of the village smith, and Cara the fearless daughter of the ‘witch’ Winne: together they will find and slay the dragon. But Wolf’s uncle Sieg has dark reasons to foil Wolfs quest. He becomes the trio’s most formidable opponent.
The series is set in a distant past, but the eternal struggle between good and evil, and universal values like friendship and loyalty make its story recognisable to young and old.
Despite its ‘historical’ setting, the dilemmas and choices in ‘The son of Artan’ are therefore familiar to todays children: friendship, overcoming fear, coping with loss, the choice between good and evil, self-sacrifice, etc. This - along with a delicious dash of heroic combat, dragon roaring and hoof stamping - makes this series a captivating story, brimming with adventure and excitement. But it is also a story full of hope and positive emotions, a story in which friendship and courage are central.
